Rachel Hutchins
Soprano
Rachel Hutchins trained at the National Conservatory in Nancy, France, where she earned her Premier Prix in voice performance. She regularly performed as the soprano soloist for a variety of regional productions, including Vivaldi’s Gloria, Fauré’s Requiem, and the role of Lola in a production of Douglas Moore’s opera Gallantry. In Paris, Rachel was the soprano soloist for the chamber orchestra Anthémis from 2007 to 2017, where concert highlights include a solo program of Mozart arias and Exsultate Jubilate as part of the Sixteenth Arrondissement’s annual music festival, numerous Bach cantatas, and performances of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in churches including Saint Paul and Saint Séverin. Since moving back to the U.S., Rachel is delighted to perform in various venues around the city, including a set in the 2022 WQXR holiday concert, broadcast live from the Greene Space with Lara St. John and Martin Kennedy; solo recitals with pianist Oliver Hagen; and multiple projects with Opera on Tap. Recent highlights include Capacity, or: The Work of Crackling, a co-production between Opera on Tap, Kinesis Project, and Anti Social Music.
